About me.
I am a researcher from the California Bay Area with 5 years of industry experience and a M.S. degree in Human Factors. As a researcher, I have had the opportunity to conduct research for both hardware and software products in the B2B and B2C space.
My journey to becoming a UX Researcher was not a straight line as when I got my B.S. in Aviation, yes, Aviation, I wanted to be a pilot. But this degree is what exposed me to Human Factors, and when circumstances prevented me from being a pilot, I pivoted to continuing my education in one of my favorite courses during my undergrad, Human Factors.
After finishing my M.S. degree, I was able to begin my industry experience working in the medical space at Tandem Diabetes, which highlighted the impact research can have on the user’s end, as the products I was conducting research on were the lifeline for our users. I built upon this foundation in my next role at Grammarly, where I got to conduct research for the Grammarly Business team, introducing me to the B2B space. During these experiences, I have focused more on qualitative methods but have also built a strong foundation of quantitative methods, which I have used in stand-alone projects and to augment qualitative insights.
I have always thought that the zigzaggy line I took to become a researcher was a strength as it was a constant reminder to always look past the surface level. Similarly, research is not only about the end result but also the going through the process that makes it shine.
